Anixter Center’s Substance Use Disorder Treatment Services are designed specifically for individuals with mental health issues or physical disabilities who experience co-occurring substance use disorders. We provide compassionate outpatient treatment that is tailored to the unique needs of each person. Our goal is to apply expertise and partner with individuals to achieve an overall healthier way of life free from substance use.

Program supports provided typically include:

  • Substance Use Disorder Assessment
  • Group and Individual Counseling
  • Case Management
  • HIV and Other STI Education
  • Sober Recreation and Leisure Activities
  • Independent Living Skills Education and Training
  • Aftercare Planning and Continuing Recovery Support
  • Drug and Alcohol Education
  • Disability Awareness Education
  • Relapse Prevention
  • Recovery Support

Locations:

Over ten 24-hour residential settings throughout Chicago.

Eligibility:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Have a diagnosis of a mental illness or physical disability in addition to substance use

Funding:

Illinois Department of Human Services Substance Use Prevention and Recovery contract for those with no safety net of payment options, Medicaid, Insurance

Each person who experiences mental health symptoms has a different journey, and Anixter Center’s aim is to assist individuals in moving past issues associated with mental illness. Licensed, trained, empathic staff provide one to one and group counseling sessions.

Individualized plans are in the following areas:

  • Therapeutic steps to recovery
  • Medication training
  • Life skills training
  • Finding Autonomy/Self-Identity
  • Socialization / recreation and navigating community
  • Expressive therapies
  • Assistance in meeting employment goals

A stable place to live is essential for people to recover from mental health issues. Anixter Center offers 4 residential settings with various supervision levels. Support is provided in the areas of symptom management, counseling and daily living skills, based on the needs of each individual.

Northside of Chicago

Eligibility:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Diagnosis of serious mental illness

Funding:

Medicaid, Private pay based on Medicaid rates, Insurance, Illinois Department of Human Services Mental Health Residential grants

HUD Housing:

Anixter Center offers apartment homes with independent living settings, which is different than our residential setting services. Anixter Center Housing Management is the management company for seven low income HUD properties throughout the Chicagoland area. Anixter Center’s Recovery Hub is a drop in center that provides a space for people with mental illness to find community, compassion and connection.

Recovery Hub Goals:

  • Providing a safe, judgement free place for adults (18+) with a confirmed mental illness to work on recovery in a peer driven environment
  • Increasing skill sets for transition to community living
  • Getting families together for those who have lost a relationship and desire to reconnect
  • Offering opportunities to rediscover a sense of self and develop interests (music, art, hobbies) to enhance mental health recovery
  • Learning from a peer group to get support with life (increasing wellness, socialization, and fun!)

Recovery Hub Hours: 7 Days a Week

  • Sunday: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Monday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Thursday: 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Friday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Location:

Rogers Park, Chicago north side

Eligibility:

Individuals need to have a confirmed diagnosis of mental illness and a desire to work towards mental health stability.

Funding:

The program is free of charge and provided via a grant from the Illinois Department of Human Services.

Mental Health Outreach provides support to individuals living with mental illness with mental health stability, daily living and recreation on an as needed basis – from intense to mild.

The member guides their recovery journey with assistance from a trained staff person in a community setting, not from an office based or clinic setting.
