Anixter is proud to announce that the Job Training and Economic Development (JTED) grants program has awarded $500,000 to a groundbreaking employment initiative. Over the next two years, Anixter will support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to secure employment in the healthcare, retail, technology, and manufacturing sectors to accelerate inclusion.
Anixter Center is leading disability employment with the JTED grant by redefining access. Through Disability Forward partnerships, Anixter will transform employment equity for people and workplaces across Chicagoland. Anixter’s employment philosophy goes beyond getting people jobs – it’s about connecting individuals with meaningful work.
Funded through the American Rescue Act, the JTED grant aims to invest in workforce training to improve equitable workforce recovery for historically underserved populations. People with I/DD are all too often left behind when it comes to employment. Over 80% of individuals with I/DD are unemployed or underemployed. At Anixter, we’re working to change that.
Together, we’re creating a Chicago where everyone belongs.
