ABOUT ANIXTER CENTER:
Anixter Center is one of the largest nonprofit organizations in the Chicago area serving people of all ages with disabilities and related challenges. Each year Anixter Center and its three divisions - CALOR, Chicago Hearing Society (CHS) and Lekotek - help more than 7,300 children, teens and adults by providing residential, educational, employment, socialization and health services.

Position Summary: Responsible for providing quality Behavioral Services to adults that present with maladaptive behaviors who live in Anixter Center's Residential Department CILAs.

Position Responsibilities:
• Conduct preference and other assessments for current and new clients
• Write individual behavior support plans and update behavior support plans every 6 months (at annual and review date)
• Collect and graph data, assess, and report results
• Complete functional behavior assessments
• Implement changes to behavior plans as clients' needs change based on data
• Attend behavior rights committee meetings
• Monitor progress towards behavior goals
• Complete monthly progress reports for client caseload
• Attend ISP meetings to provide support and recommendations as needed
• Conduct team trainings on client behavior plans and data collection
• Model and train on behavior interventions
• Implement interventions and procedures according to behavior support plan
• Participate in necessary trainings, meetings, and committees as needed or directed
• Observe each client in their work and home environment twice per month (each) and maintain observation notes on visits
• Maintain accurate and organized client notes, data, and reports
• Track 56U billing notes, by client, and keep a record on Anixter Center's computer system and Mental Health Database for billing.
• Submit billing to the Accounting Department for all clients by the 1st of the month
• Run social skills groups within Residential Department
• Review incident reports and provide feedback/make recommendations when necessary
• Ensure agency is in compliance with standards from external governmental agencies
• Works effectively and maintains positive relationships with other agency departments/programs
• Participates in the intake process and makes recommendations to Director
• Attends to clients when they are in crisis and need behavioral intervention
• Support the manager On-Call team with emergency behavioral issues on a 24-hour basis in cooperation with QIDP of programs
• Other duties as assigned

Essential Skills and Experience:
• Professional Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Certification must be maintained throughout employment.
• Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis or related field.
• Experience in utilizing evidenced-based practices (Applied Behavior Analysis, Positive Behavior Support, etc.)
• Ability to obtain certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) and/or Professional Crisis Management (PCM) or another type of intervention technique.
• Valid Illinois driver's license required.
• Ability to meet agency insurance requirements.

RECREATIONAL THERAPIST (CTRS)

JOB OBJECTIVE:
Help design and implement therapeutic programming that maximizes the potential for independence, enhances the quality of life and promotes community integration for individuals with a disability. Creation of a positive and enjoyable environment promoting social and recreational opportunities in concert with expressed desires of program participants.

DUTIES:
• Develop and implement curricula and teaching methods that utilize recreation and leisure activities to enhance psychosocial functioning, enhance physical performance and facilitate community integration. This includes:
• Adjust materials to individual needs of the program participants. Cover leisure education, socialization, networking, community resources, lifestyle choices, health considerations, fitness, independence and other related topics
• Assist program participants in planning, organizing and implementing recreational, social, and leisure activities
• Organize and implement ongoing system to collect consumer feedback on program activities of future events and activities.
• In conjunction with participants, plan and participate in activities, community outings, and special events. Foster independence of all participants in all aspects of planning, participation and program enhancement.
• Help working persons transition into the community
• Teach a variety of physical, leisure and recreation activities in a safe and appropriate manner.
• Evaluate individual progress
• Assess program effectiveness
• Liaison with local Chicago Park District facilities and other community programs. Refer program participants to community programs as appropriate.
• Complete and update assessments on each participant and develop a plan based on their needs, interests and abilities
• Accompany, supervise, and help coach athletes at local Special Olympics events. Assist with eligibility (medicals) and registration process. Complete associated paperwork.
• Supervise therapeutic recreation interns as needed. Complete associated paperwork.
• Participate in Individual Service Plans as requested, providing input regarding progress and concerns of the participant. Complete required sections of staffing report and progress reports. Strive for efficiency, accuracy and usefulness of information.
• Assist persons served with activities of daily living, grooming, and hygiene as needed, throughout the day. Provide break and lunch coverage.
• Complete required paperwork according to department and agency guidelines, funding source regulations and accreditation standards
• Report and document behavioral data as required on a timely basis
• Report and document payroll information on a timely basis as necessary
• Assist participants in developing and following their individual work and activity schedules, encouraging their participation and community involvement.
• Respond to medical and behavior crisis in accordance with agency policy and procedure. This includes related paperwork.
• Drive the agency vans and multi-passenger small bus to transport participants to and from regularly scheduled outings as well as spontaneously planned outings.

QUALIFICATIONS:
B.A. degree in Therapeutic Recreation. Must have or be eligible for Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist certification.

Must have the physical capacity to assist in behavior management, to lift people and program materials as program needs dictate.

Valid Illinois driver's license

Scheduled hours will be flexible not to total more than 40 hours per week. Usual working hours will be Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Occasional evening, week-end hours and overnight hours may be required.

• Assist in development and implementation of social skills groups within Residential Department
• Review incident reports and provide feedback/make recommendations when necessary
• Ensure agency is in compliance with standards from external governmental agencies
• Works effectively and maintains positive relationships with other agency departments/programs
• Participates in the intake process and makes recommendations to Director
• Intervenes with clients when they are in crisis and need behavioral intervention

Fifteen-year-old Eliza Peters lost most of her hearing by the time she was five, but she never lost heart. On the basketball court or the dance floor, Eliza was able to hear the cheers with the help of her hearing aids and she's helping other student athletes do the same.
